It's infuriating that such a potentially in-depth villain doesn't get the the hype they deserve from Brom. They get themselves killed off in an unjustified way, but they're an unjustified villain. They're summoned by Durza and obey him like any minion would, which just ain't right. The whole reason for why Eragon starts his adventure. The Urgal attack is fine, just in the wrong town. She is by far one of my most favorite characters in fiction and they just did her wrong in the film.

There's nothing mysterious about her, she's not an eccentric little witch, she's just a bedazzled hermit in a hut that could have been cut from the movie with no consequences. (Tangent for the Ra'zac in the next paragraph) Angela's scene mage me cringe like nothing else has. In the book, Yazuac left Eragon with his hatred of the Urgals for their extermination of the village, Daret left Eragon with his mistrust of strangers and weariness of towns, and Tierm left him with more information to track down the Ra'zac. It was like they mixed Yazuac, Daret, and Tierm all together only without the lasting effects on Eragon. However, Daret made me groan for the entire scene in the town. Other than those points, the beginning was fine. But really they could have just stuck with the original story for him leaving. Roran running away with Katrina is fine, I guess. "growth spurt" because of the runtime and they would have just done a growing up montage anyway. I think that's where the film started to fall apart. I will say I enjoyed the movie for the most part before Eragon and Brom visited Daret. Post Viewing Update: SPOILERS AHEAD IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOKĪlright. But now, I've read the books over and over again and listened to the audiobooks somany times, I'm going to see if the movie is as bad as I remember. I remember watching it years ago (around the time it came out) and then reading the books as they came out. I'm going to watch "The movie that doesn't exist"
